Finally we are getting some nice weather here this week... I wanted to burn through a tank of gas so spent 2-3 hours tooling around town...

Saw someone on a SV1k down on Blackfoot too... but the rest were GSXR guys or CBR-R poseurs :p and of course the occasional cruiser...

Went and had a look at an old Intruder bike but the guy wanted too much and there was too much to fix on it... I thought about getting one to fix up so I could occasionaly cruise the highway on it... do some charity rides... it is hard to do a charity ride on the SV.. they cruise tooo d a m n slow... oh well someday I'll get an intruder to keep my SV company in the garage.. ;D

So, anyone planing on doing any of the charity rides this year? I did the Ride for Sight with my dad on his Maxim last summer and it was pretty good.... very few sport bikes out there though

Hey. I'm supposed to do the Ride for Dad in May here in Victoria, with my Mum. She rides a VStar 1000 and wanted company. But an SV in a crowd of 500+ cruisers snailing over some nice twisties seems a shame... but I'll ride for the sake of saving my favourite species (men) from extinction:D Us girls have our priorities straight!

A few of us are riding out your way later this summer. Should be fun times. In the meantime, it's fully motorcycle season here. Come on out anytime.

How about a mint Marauder 800? My father has one for sale in Ponoka, and it's in great shape, with a few nice comfort mods as well.

I don't know the history of the model, other than that they are comparable to the modern M50. Here is a pic of the style.

The one he has for sale is actually dark green/black, if I remember correctly from last season when I rode it. It was actually my mom's second bike, and I know it has been treated really well. It has an aftermarket seat, windshield, engine guard, saddlebags, and a new clutch replaced last season. The clutch didn't need to be replaced, but my father is a bit on the picky side.

Oh yeah, by the way, it is one of the nicest sounding cruisers I have heard.

Yeah it is a supposedly more sporty intruder... they lost some hp from the engine, got rid of the shaft drive and put on upside down forks and put the carbs off the engine sides a la harley style... the intruder is more Japanese cruiser style..

They are both good bikes... but I'd be looking for one that I could deal down to $3500 or less...

as this would be on occasional ride and not my main bike I guess I can hold out for the right one...

If it only needed slight cosmetic tweaking and had a solid engine/drivetrain/suspension then I am fine getting one that could use some fixing up... it would let me get an otherwise decent bike for under $3500

But if someone had a good condition one selling for around that price.. that would be even better..

I think he was asking $4250 if I remember right.

The bike is in great shape from what I know, but between the C90, C50,
GS750, Wee-strom, CB500t, and whatever else they have tucked away, they need to clear some space.

Let me know if you are interested!

yeah I would be... but $3500 is my cut off for whatever I get as a second bike... and even then that is pushing it a bit for me...

Always up for a good rip around the city!!

The Second Gear Club has a 5 day tour in the middle of July, 13th- 17th to be exaxt. It goes into BC and around, looks like it could be good. It's kinda hard to find on their site. But if you click the white word "Touring" in the left column it shows you all the details.
I'm not part of the Second Gear Club but just looking for places to ride and hopefully more sv's to meet.

Should be out this weekend, and proabably this weeks as well ;D

Sorry I didn't get your dad's marauder.... I actually found another... 18,000km on it and I talked the guy down to $3400 I could sell it tomorrow for $4000 easy...
The marauder you snagged looks great, and an incredible buy at the price!

It's actually the same color combo as my fathers, just more stripped down, which looks great.

The cobra's must make that thing really bark, as the stock pipes on his are quite loud when you get "into her" as well!

Congrats on the new ride!

I saw the "ride for sight" get escorted through calgary on deerfoot.

Looked like a pile of bikes.....but......I think I would rather have spent the day down at the rusty cage for the Ducati owners meet.

The guys from Motorrad performance were setting up when we rolled by in the family cruiser, on our way to heritage park. There was only 4 bikes there at 9am, and one of them was an absolutely gorgeous, bright red, first gen SV!

Yeah, I thought the Hindle on my old SV and the M4 on my current 06 were loud... but this thing is nasty loud... I need to find some sort of 3rd party baffle to take the edge off... I'm always afraid the cops will pull me over...

the plus.. I don't worry at all about the M4 now... it is quiet by comparison..

The ride goes out from deerfoot mall to Olds so it is not bad... actually the cops escort you out of town and the on ramps and such are blocked off etc... kind of cool... last year I was up near the front... good thing as some of those cruisers are not running too clean and have rank exhaust... but it makes for a nice ride on the way back, I went through cochrane last time... but there are a lot of cruisers compared to sport bikes... but it isn't all the geezer glide crowd

I think I might just go out on it again this year... The Rusty cage is close to where I live.. but I've often found those ducatti types are often a bit snooty if you don't ride one yourself...
