Swiest and Mavrik, and possibly a few others have grafted one on, from a VFR.

Is there a single sided swingarm designed specifically for the SV. Nope.

Chrome? Or diligently and highly polished by little British gnomes?

Too much chrome for my taste, but cool design!
That would be polished alloy ... not chrome!

What is it with young people and their aversion to shiny metal?

Chrome is cheesy yes ... but polished aluminum is sweet. Ummm ... at least us old guys think so.

What would you suggest? Some flat black perhaps?

now way should you go with flat black/"bed liner" on that swing arm. Its pure sex, why would you ruin it and hide it with flat black....

I was joking. Sorry for the :D omission. I'm more with RD on this one. I like polished shiny bits. I'm just too lazy and unskilled to create them.

;D Thanks for the 'young' comment, LOL.

Polished alloy? OK, more acceptable. My aversion to chrome SA's (Ask Liutas, he will tell you) comes from all the stretched & chromed 'Busas running amok here in VA... blech. I hate that trend.

Like Sam said, flat black seems too low-key for a piece of work like this. Maybe a high-gloss black, or a splash of color back there would better suit my tatses. :)

If it has anything to do with a hardley or a squid-sled, it's probably chromed.

Here's a bit of a non-sequiter for you:

I had a Jack Nicklaus IMG-5 Ironmaster putter for so long the finish started coming off, and it started to rust. My neighbor said he knew a guy who could paint it for me really nicely. I gave it to him with instructions I wanted it flat. It came back chromed. Have you ever tried to use a chrome putter in the California sunshine? Eech!

Sorry Trambo .. my comments weren't directed at you per se .. but at the tastes of many of the SV youth.

Yes ... chrome is for home-boys, stunters and extended swingarm Busas and the like.

I get it.

But polished aluminum (and even nickel plate on an appropriate application) is a completely different animal.

Enrico asked what the difference was between chrome and polished metal.

I would say that chrome is too shinny, too perfect and is almost fake looking if you know what I mean.

Polished aluminum has a more organic look to it ... its usually not perfectly uniform and is often flawed. It becomes discolored in areas.
But it looks like real metal, not fake or synthetic metal.

How can I tell chrome from highly polished metal? Its like the old Supreme Court Justice said about defining pornography ... "I know it when I see it" ...

Polished is pleasing ... chrome is offensive.
