Silicone Sealant with new exhaust?

1610 Views 7 Replies 7 Participants Last post by  Angrysheep
Hello all i just purchased a new slip on and had a few questions:

1. Do you need a silicone sealant on slips ons?

2. If yes to 1, where do you apply the silicone sealant? Between the can and linkpipe only? or Between the header and linkpipe also?

3. How high temperature rating is needed for the Slip on? And what product do you recommend?

Thanks in advance.

Awesome, was wondering the same thing since I just picked up a used slip-on. Thanks!
I used the same stuff worth every penny and second
Thank You guys for the recommendation. After pulling off my exhaust and apllying the Permatex Red, my exhaust sounds much much beter. There was some exhaust leak popping going on before and now its completely gone. I will have to say +googleplex to using silicone sealant on slip ons.
so if I have an exhaust leak would it be okay to just seal it up with this red tube stuff?
thanks
yes. my rashed scorpion street exteme is sealed with mid temp black permatex where it ground through. has held up fine for 5 months so far
