Is it safe to remove the dog linkages by supporting the rear from the bottom of the shock via hydralic jack? I have a front stand in place.

Anyone for see any issues?

Also, when the bolts come off I can assume the swingarm will drop will this be dangerous?

Thanks

Yep. The top shock mount pivots. It will tip right over.

You're way better off sticking a bar through the swingarm pivot and then put it up on jack stands or cement blocks.

I couldn't wait, and the answer is yes you could and it's not very dangerous...but u need a second person to balance the bike...easy that way =).

can also support it through the rear subframe. If you have some tie downs and a structural beam overhead, wrap the tie down over the beam, take the rear plastics off (so not to damage) and use the tie down to hoist the rear. This is how we supported mine when I did my shock swap
