Hey -- trying to figure out the best route mapping sites. Started with Google Maps which is cool (because you can collaborate), but also found this one, that was real easy to sketch out a quick map:

I've used mapmyride.com for a lot of bike (bicycle) rides. Gives elevation profile as well as mileposts and such. And you can publish the route for others to see if you like.
