Removing an oil stand union?

937 Views 8 Replies 5 Participants Last post by  SVstryker
I bought an 02 SV from someone and it needed the oil changed. There's where the trouble started. Find the details here: http://forum.svrider.com/showthread.php?t=94318

I now need to remove the old oil stand union. What do you use to get it out? Is it backwards threads? Is there a special tool to remove it?

PLEASE NO SPECULATIONS OR MERE SUGGESTIONS. I only need people's suggestions that have actually done this. This is something that CANNOT be messed up any farther because it could cost a tremendous amount to fix a blunder with it.

Thanks for the help.

T: Hit Dustin up on this... I was just talking to him about this, he had to do some repairs to his new motor. He can 'splain it.
I know in the other thread there was one guy who said his came out accidentally and he threw it away. I wish mine would come out that easy.
Once you have the new part you should be able to tell which way it turns.

Sorry... I didn't mean it in that sense at all. Meant "good job".

don't know if it's the same guy, but jeopardy98 has 2 blocks for sale, one with a busted union. the union either cracked out of the case or it broke off.

i would PM him and ask to take a look at the union to see which way the threads turn, and if so, what it would take to remove it.

sorry for the 'mere suggestion' but i hope it helps. ;)
