What kind of tool collection does the average racer build over time?

Some sort of novice class is something I really want to do eventually but it's going to have to wait until after college.
youll learn quickly that aside from a couple odd tools (special tool for GSXR axle) you really only need a good socket kit, allen wrenches, combo wrenches, some pliers, duct and electrical tape and screwdrivers.
Let's see:
00 SV650

01 GSX-R 750 front end, revalved and resprung by aftershocks
Penske 2 way
Brembo 19x18 MC/Brembo Calipers/GPTech folding lever
SS lines
Ohlins Steering Damper
41mm flatslides
cam swap
M4 full system
BRG lightweight subframe
BRG lightweight fairing stay
916 plastics
Swingarm/Frame sliders
Daytona Temp Gauge
Michelin Slicks/Dots
520 - 15/46
Woodcraft high rearsets
Vortex clipons
Woodcraft case saver

Have a couple of other odds and ends that are waiting to go on the bike, namely a braced swingarm. Need to rig up the rest of the plastics and maybe buy a BRG racing battery box, and convert to a race harness setup and safety wire the whole thing. So close...I think I'm about 4k into the bike now, not counting tires.

Tools? Ehh, complete socket set, breaker bar, electric impact wrench, dremel, and assorted other items (dentist mirrors, magnets on a stick, allen wrenches in both hand and ratchet style, speed handles, etc). Don't need it all, but it sure is handy to have the right tool when you need it.

Hmmm, hope I can remember everything. :)

3 complete set of wheels
Traxxion damper rods, emulators, Sonic Springs. (This is a bit of an experiment, it's not the way I normally do forks)
Woodcraft clip-ons and rearsets.
Pazzo levers.
R6 throttle tube.
Motosliders and swingarm spools
EBC HH pads.
14,15,16 C/S sprockets, 47-50 rears.
EK 520 chain.
BRG subframe.
Penske shock.
Ohlins top mount steering damper.
M4 exhaust.
cam swap.
Sharkskinz bodywork.
Bridgestone tires, probably slicks.
Cutdown wiring harness.
Micron tach/lap timer

Prep matters too. Took the bike completely apart to clean it up and check and re-lube all bearings. Since the wheels got powdercoated all the wheel bearing were replaced.

Tons of spares. It's an endurance bike, so ya gotta be prepared. ;D

i have your typical run of the mill superstock bike. :D

I used to lose wrenches all of the time. But I picked up this great tip from a dirt bike magazine. But the closed end of the wrenches in a carabiner (it's a mountain climbing thing, also tons of keychains have these now)

does a long list of mods equate to a fast bike, or a cool bike? ;)
does a long list of mods equate to a fast bike, or a cool bike? ;)
It equates to a lot of money spent. :)

Actually, I think this is a useful thread. It gives guys who are thinking about track/race prepping a list of stuff people really thought was worth spending money on.
As opposed to the normal mod thread, where 90% of the opinions are from people who just read about something as opposed to having done it. ;D
Its not about the bike being cool or fast, its about enjoying building it. You know kinda like its getting there is just as important as the destination.

Good list of parts there, you spent your money where it mattered. Well, except for the bullet cam. ;D
