Tonight I went out for a ride and when I was in 2nd gear under about 25-30mph there is a noticeable rattle coming from around the front wheel. Not super loud but loud enough to make me wonder what's going on. Straight-aways and corners.

When I get some speed on, the rattle smooths out and goes away. I checked everything in front and everything seems tight. Could it possibly be that the chain needs a little grease or something? This is my first bike, first time really putting any miles on it and I'm learning as I go. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Is it normal?

You should lube your chain about every 600 miles or so and check its adjustment periodically.

If you haven't, then it seems a logical place to start.

I'll do that tomorrow but is a slight rattle pretty typical of a chain needing some attention?
