when unpacking it tonight for pics I saw the invoice and they had set it up with a hyperco 6x500# spring, NOT a 525# as I previously thought and noted below.

I bought a penske rear 8983 (double adjustable) from traxxion a while ago for ~$900 that I'm looking to unload. It's on sale now from traxxion for ~$800. I never installed it; it's brand new sitting in its glory, perfectly bubble wrapped. It was set for a 200# rider with a 525# spring rate.

How much do you think I can sell it for? Everyone was clamoring for a penske or an ohlins when I picked it up and I've been away from svrider for a while now and don't know if there's still a market. It is tax refund time though.

I'm selling it because I need the money for another venture so I'll be selling it regardless, but should I wait till the summer? thoughts?

should I just leave pricing open and see what kind of offeres I get or is there a baseline you'd recommend? everyone always seemed supportive when I was more around, I don't think I'd be low-balled, maybe I'll post it and leave it open, hmm...

I have the same one but paid around $750 if I remember right. How many miles on it, how old exactly. Maybe start somehwere around $600 and see what happens.

Duh... I guess I should have read it all...zero miles... start at $700 then?

muller jd - thanks for the help; that's good information seeing that you have the same one I am talking about. I imagine if the identical product in brand new condition is a hundred dollars less, one would purchase the cheaper. I guess the only thing I have working against me is that the spring has already been set to my weight. Is this something that the purchaser could have tuned or reset easily?

as you can tell from the quick replies, work is not so enticing today!

Yes, it can easily be changed for another riders weight but yours is right around the average for a fair sized guy IMO.. I think if you throw it up for sale on the WERA classifieds forum, it'll sell quick.

I got it a lil ago, I have a **** poor memory, and I never opened it, but YES, i'm pretty sure it is.

Because if it's not a remote reservior, it won't fit in my VFR swingarm. I'll have to remove either the exhaust or the swingarm to install it, plus cut away at the undertail. Neither of which appeal to me.

a lot of people told me to leave it as is, I think because they enjoy receiving something and being the first person to open a new goodie.

but from the images I saw, it's blue and a beautifully built shock and I will probably post pics tonight in the FS section in order to build up enough interest to get a reliable buyer for this awesome shock!

have an email you want me to send the pics to or i guess you can check it out online tonight?

That's generous of you man; I appreciate it and will take you up on the offer as even with my 25 posts, and year long membership, svrider does not want to let me post in the FS section.

I don't have the pics yet, I will tonight, I'm at work now. I'll be posting to WERA in a hot minute as it doens't seem I have any restrictions over there.

ps - if you're looking to upgrade the front suspension too while you're at it, I have a brand new traxxion "Drop-In" Damper Rod Kit with the additional and required 2nd Gen top out spring kit for $200 in the FS section! this being a little less pricey and just as awesome a mod will hopefully bring some buyers!
