Took a part up to a guy in Roanoke VA today. Decided to hit the Parkway for my first time on the way back. here are some super duper pics from the first lookout I came to.

Oh yeah... and the pics after a dear decided to play chicken with me...

Notice the dear hair stuck in the front fender on the last one.:(

Thats literally what went through my head...no don't cross the road...please don't do it.. oh snap your gonna do it....bammmmmm errrrrr!!! That was what went through my head within the 1 second that it all happened.
I was lucky, was only going a bit above 45 or so and was able to trail through the dear and come to a safe stop.

Poor sv and poor dear.. it wasn't completly dead on impact but was bleading out all over the road. Im no animal freak, but I hate when stuff like that happens.
I have full covergage as the bike is financed. we will see tommorow what they are gonna do.

deer ;D

- Jordan
No.. It wasn't a deer. It was a dear. Like the dear you start a letter off with...Dear, Grandma...Dear, Mary... That kind of dear ran out in front of me. :p Its late im tired.
Anyone know how the insurance is going to work on this. I have full coverage and am financing it. Any info before I talk to them tommorow would be a good help. I don't want them pulling anything over on me.

Glad you are okay.

Dear or deer? I don't quite understand that, but your insurance may have a place for you to take the bike to be repaired.

May have to pay the deductable, see if they will waive it. Good luck!

Yeah definetly a no go on the gladipuss. I was just messing with Jordan on the "correct" spelling of Deer. Im not sure why I spelled it dear? Must be the post accident trauma:eek:. It was dark after it happened so I could not really get a look if anything mechanical had been harmed. I was able to drive it up to a couple's vacation house up the road. They just happened to be coming by right after it happened. And to top it all off they live in Moorseville right down the road from me. They have the sv in the back of their pickup and are going to bring it back for me when they come home tommorow. They let me hang out in their house while I called in a report, and they even fed me!Super awesome people. I had to call my Mommy;D to come take me back to my house. Ive never had any experience with insurance and motorcycles so Im not sure how they go about it. The hotline wasn't working tonight, so once again, I'll wait until the morning.

You're fortunate that the deer wasn't what went through your head! Glad you're okay.

I was recently in an accident as well, but I didn't hit a deer. I have Progressive and they were almost immediately talking about totaling the bike, as it is an 05svs, book value of 4300. Once I got it to the shop, the service guys that were going to write everything up asked if I wanted to total it out, or keep it. I told them I wanted to keep it, and write it up for as much as they could without totaling it. I guess once the cost of repairs reaches around 70% of the value, the insurance company looks to total it. Anyway, I plan on leaving the fairings off, and making into a naked. They wrote it up for 2300, the insurance guy dropped the check off on the same day, and I should pick the bike up this week. Yours looks like all front end, mine was left side. Glad to see you made it out of that ok, and good luck with the bike! Go naked!

That sucks, glad you are ok to joke about it. We have a lot of deer around here and I am always worried about this happening. It's one reason I dislike riding at night.

Some warning would have been in order. You give us a couple serene pictures of a pristing bike overlooking nice scenery, then BAM! right over the head with a busted up wreck. WTF?! smiley

So what happened to the half dead deer. Did you snap its neck, Rambo style, to put it out of its misery?
