My issue is it wont stay running all of a sudden.
I've never had the issue before. Have been using the 2001 sv with @25,000mi with no issues as a commuter and for small track days/ sprint on deals gap.
As of late (about a month) the batt doesnt seem like it wants to hold a charge.. maybe the charging system is or is going bad. stator?-someone mentioned.
So i have just been jump starting it with no issue and riding it to work cruising at 60mph most of the way.
One day all of a sudden after just sitting in the garage for a bout a week, even with a powerful jump from my Diesel Ram, it would barely get running on full choke. normally after a few sec on full choke, the RPM's shoot up and i gradually lower the choke before removing the jump cables. Now, as the bike raises in RPMs from 1000 to 2000 it just kills itself like it would had i cranked on the throttle. after about 10 min of repeating this over and over with the same result in the hot/humid NC weather all geared up, i got frustrated and just garaged it and jumped on my ruckus instead.
WTF is up with the SV?! i did a search and only came up with the 'no start threads' and it did make me remember the one time i pulled the tank apart and saw the little tube fuel filter with the petcock.
I removed and cleaned the carbs when i got the bike.. maybe about 8000 miles ago? have not checked plugs- though it sounds normal, two cyl when starting.. and i did not get any rain riding on it in a long time.
