just bought a 1000s yesterday. 13K miles, great condition - $4400.

i did a detailed walk around b4 purchase. also have driven it 50 miles since purchase no problems what so ever. taking it to a shop on Monday to do a sag and suspension tweak. what else should i get checked out on a bike with 13K miles? anything glaring that i should have them do/check?

it it came with Leo Vince slip ons. how do I know if it came with a power commander or not.

also - the stock steering dampener... is that good enough or is it worth upgrading?

thanks fellas.

As long as you're spending money at the stealers, might as well have them do the normal 15K check-up. Valve adjust, etc...

If you have a power commander, it will likely be under one of the seats. It really isn't necessary with just the exhaust and/or air cleaner. You're still within the operating perameters of the ECU.

The steering damper, while nothing special, should be acceptable unless you're heading to the track, or ride on really poor roads.

usually with just cans, you don't really need to do anything, pull the seat and see if a power comander lurks, maybe under the tank, the don't come from the factory with one..GREAT torque... any 'expensive' noises from the motor?? does it come with an owners manual?? that will have a maintence schedule to look at.. i'd give it a fresh oil filter and oil just because..

oh yeah, HAVE FUN!!!

post some pics!!

Spark Plugs are a must at that mileage and you are about due any way at 14K you should change them... and keep in mind that the valve check is coming up so unless you do it yourself get ready to spend 200 on that little job which I have to get done very soon. :(
