I have just became the proud owner of a 1999 SV650 in near-mint condition, it was left to me by my grandfather, and i'm enjoying it more and more as I put some miles on it. Any tips and tricks for a new rider? Do's and Dont's?

Get a Motorcycle Safety Foundation class or similar near you.

First off, post pics! Everyone wants to see a near mint '99.
Second, replace the regulator/rectifier if it hasn't been already with an upgraded Shindigen unit. The moldy-oldie Suzuki r/r's are ticking time bombs waiting to fry your battery and stator, not to mention leave you stranded.

Thank you for the advice! I will discuss with my mechanic about getting that installed. Interestingly enough, he had a 99 SV when he was younger. Here's a few photos, more to come!

Be grateful he left the SV to you instead of the beemer

Definitely, riding is in the family's blood, I love the SV so far and am looking to keep it in it's great condition.

If available in your area I suggest using non ethanol fuel, your carbs will be thankful.
