Hey guys, I'm not a SV owner yet... but am in the process of getting one.

I'm pretty much a new rider, never owned a bike before, but I have ridden a bike here and there. The only reason I'm getting a 1000 rather than something smaller, is basically an opportunity of events.

I'll be getting an 03 SV1000s, hopefully within the next week.

I'm hoping to get some help first though. The owner of the bike is telling me the bike needs a new chain and has a broken clutch rod. I'm pretty mechanically inclined when working on cars, but I've never attempted to work on a bike.

Can anyone chime in and let me know what I'm dealing with in regards to a clutch rod? The chain, I'm sure I can figure out, if not, get it done for a decent price.

Guys, anyone help would be greatly appreciated!!

From what I can see in the shop manual, the Clutch PUSH Rod is internal to the clutch which must be completely disassembled to remove the rod. That said, if it's broken, what else is damaged? and how does that even happen? I don't know. Good luck!
