LOS ANGELES - Rock music producer Phil Spector was convicted Monday of second-degree murder in the shooting death of actress Lana Clarkson at his mansion six years ago.

A Superior Court jury returned the verdict after about 30 hours of deliberations. The jury had the option of choosing involuntary manslaughter, but did not do so. The panel also found Spector personally used a firearm in committing a crime.

Spector had no obvious reaction. His attorney argued that he should remain free on bail pending the May 29 sentencing but Judge Larry Paul Fidler accepted the prosecution's argument that he be remanded to jail immediately.

Okay, not exactly, but at least they didn't pull a OJ/judge Eito this time.

Mike makes an excellent point. He might have been rich and kinda famous (in the appropriate circles anyhow) but nothing close to the level of pop culture famous as OJ, etc.

Exactly, OJ, Michael Jackson, etc had enough celebrity to get off...this guy, not so much.

Yet another murderer that thought he could get "off the hook" from the consequences of their crime. Not this this time. $$$ does not = getting off the hook for murder.

Ah.

But seriously... I have no idea who that guy is. Never heard of him.
He's an old, rich, apparently crazy-ass music producer. Cliff notes on the case: GF shot in the head. Multiple old girlfriends report involuntary Russian-roulette games. He claimed she shot herself.
