i have an 01 sv650 and recently bought a 1 tooth less front sprocket. i also bought a new chain. the sprocket went on fine and the chain fits, but its pretty tight. when its on there is very little play in it, and the rear axel is all the way forward. is there supposed to be a lot of play in a new chain, or will it stretch after its been ridin a little bit?

p.s. compared to the old chain, the new one is only 1 link shorter...?

as long as you have about 20 to 30 mm of slack in the chain it's ok. any tighter than that and you're putting a lot of stress on the countershaft bearings.

yea i dont think i have that much. so what are my options? i have a new chain and it seems to be too tight. i dont think i can just buy 3 links can i? could i add some links from my old chain and just put on another masterlink, or is that defying the reason of getting a new chain?
