The storage compartment under the passenger seat has tabs to attach the helmet too and the seat then locks over the strap (if you look you'll see how it goes). However, I've never been able to bring myself to leave my helmet out of site and exposed to the evil in the world. I've put Vortec sliders on my bike. They have a separate base and puck (the rubber that would contact the ground if/when the bike falls over). This is nice because if you have an especially fabulous fall you can replace just the puck. As far as security goes, if someone can get to your bike they can take it. It only takes a few robust young men to pick up a sport bike and carry it away. My boyfriends bike was stolen despite several security measures. Make sure it's insured. Good luck and have fun.
