As you are probably aware a huge ice storm came through the region this week. Total was 1-1/4" I believe causing total devistation.

Anyway on Tuesday morning I go out the backyard and think tonight I'll move my bike over near the fence. Well I have 5 mins before I go to work so I'll do it now. So I move it and when I get home at 5:30pm there is a 6" diameter by 8' long branch loaded down with ice lying where my SV was.

You wont see my around here for a while ... Power probably down for 2-3 weeks and I live in town. Internet , who knows when. At present I have nothing except gas hot water. House at present is staying at around 35F so with all my goose down hunting clothes on I am staying warm at least and the grill still has propane so B-B-Qs every night and not to mention a 1/2 gallon of Jack :)

My SV sitting silently away from immediate danger ... I hope

holy crap!

we got 5-6 inches of snow up here in Urbana, glad we didnt get that ice !
We got a little rain, and it's dropped down to a frigid 52 degrees now :D
After the ice we got 4" of snow just to add insult to injury. The snow just added even more weight to trees that were not already down.

Hey it could be worse. Nothing fell on the house as yet.
yeah I'll take my snow over your snow and ice
Went through the same thing in '98.

Without power for 2+ weeks, thankfully we had a fireplace and BBQ.
**** guys, hang in there.
Without power for 2+ weeks
I couldn't imagine that, The longest I've gone is like 2 days when half the state lost power mid 90s, but we were camping at the coast anyways so no biggie.

Lucky break on moving the bike before you left.
Glad your sv survivied but you should really be worried about the pipes freezing in your house if it's 35 degrees inside. If they burst you are royally f'd. If you have access to any kind of portable heater I would jump on it quick.

Got all the faucets hot and cold trickling water.

Some good news is its suppose to be in the mid 40s Saturday and 57F Sunday before another cold snap ... ALRIGHT :) get rid of the ice anyways
I went through that in KCK in 1985?. I hung up blankets to close off rooms that didn't have doors. Just to keep heat in the main room.
Very risky walking outside for days, due to tree branches falling. ...Hang in there.:)
ps.. cracked three ribs on icey stairs. :( BE CAREFULL.!
Wow...that's absolutely frigid! Glad you SV's okay...I do have to say...this is why I endure the 114 degree summer over here...just so right now I can be THAT guy that says, huh...freezing...odd...'cause it's a nice solid 70 here. Perfect riding weather! 'course...I'm working on both of my bikes so I can't enjoy it. :(
common occurance here, backup generator is a necessity, last month 5days running on generator, last summer a couple days after some violent thundershowers

I keep my bikes indoors or under a deck
Glad the SV didn't get smashed. Stay warm and try to find a kerosene or propane heater at wally world or an outdoor store that is open. I hope you get power back soon....

+1 we're only in the low 60's though
****, i start complianing when we get a inch of fluffy stuff
Well folks, I got my power on today after 8 days and its GOOOOD to be warm again. Monday I put in a 5000w generator so we have a bit of power.

Next time and there will be a next time living in tornado alley I will have a switch installed professionally to cut from mains to generator and never without power for such an extended time again.

Keep the rubber side down folks :)
Excellent...glad your ok...the bike is replaceable..glad it is ok too...

peace...murfy
