I need recommendations for a portable MP3 player (Good Quality), bot an Ipod!

What are other people using? Easy controls with riding gloves?

Metal/Plastic?

if you want to actually be able to control the thing while riding, you pretty much have to get an iPod, since I think it's the only one with a widely available remote you can put on your handlebars or something

Some tankbags have a clear pouch on top for a cell phone or mp3 player, but you'd need one with a click wheel, not the kind that responds to the touch(like the new ipods). Personally, I have a cheap sansa that's a few years old. I just put it on random and put it in my inside jacket pocket. That's what most people do I think, but I'm considering finding a way to control it, especially for longer rides.

I can scroll through the songs in a playlist and pause/unpause the music through the clear pouch on my tank bag but I cannot adjust the volume.

I use my phone (it's a sprint Touch) with mortplayer and set my playlists up before i ride or stream from my music server. I then just keep the phone in my jacket in a small case so I don't worry with it and I have volume adjustment on my headset that sits on my collar.

i have an Ipod shuffle that i hang on my kneck from the lanyard. easy enough to feel the
ring style buttons, the only downside is there is no display to see your song selection
but otherwise they are great. pretty tough little units too.

Hey does anyone know a good DVD player that flows well with the style of my naked bars?

I use my treo 680 palm smartpone with ptunes 5.0 to playback mp3's. I ended up getting a third party app (magicbutton) that allows me to control ptunes with the push button on a stock headset. I then rigged my own mixer box where my stereo headphones connect to and helmet mounted mic connects too. Also my phone connects to this box and I am currently in the process of wiring up a handle mount push button to the box. That way I can use this push button to answer/hangup calls and control mp3 playback. To add to the mix, I got a program called phone technician which allows me to keep my gps app running in the background while able to handle phone calls. So far all works on the bench, still too much snow here to actually test on the road.
