Motor Cycle Accident Stats?

Hey guys.

I've got 1 class left to get my degree...

it's a freshman class about public speaking that I have put off for about 5 years now, and i'm finally taking it.

I'm giving an informative speech about basic motorcycle safety gear. I'm trying to find some accident stats. Mainly, how mainly, how many people, on average, die each year from motorcycle accidents in the US.

It'd be great to find info like a percentage of those not wearing a helmet, but that is doubtful...

I have been searching the web all morning and I haven't come up with anything crediable yet. I'm off to the liabrary for more info, and I thought maybe some fellow SV riders could help...

So does anyone know a crediable website with these kinds of stats?

THanks!!!!

:D :D :D

American Motorcyclist Association

Dept. of Transportation

Those would be my first choices to look.

Check your state's department of transportation web site for crash stats as well. I know MN breaks it down into time of day, cause of crash, safety gear, alcohol, etc...

HTH

Also the Hurt Report is the (old) standard moto safety/accident information source...
