My name is Joe....and I'm addicted to SV Modification.

Which isn't necessarily a bad thing....but I should be throwing this money into paying the bike off first.

What do I do?

Buy a second bike and mod the hell outta that one. Then you'll get over the svmod addiction.

and what mods do you have done???

I'd say pay it off first... while you're paying it off you can always learn to hone your DIY skillz...

How modded does your bike have to be to qualify?
I'd say at least one major component has to be fabricated  ;D

I'm not sure that I think off-the-shelf parts would qualify either...

I haven't even had the bike for 3 months....already dumping my money into a slip on....frame sliders....fender eliminator kit....and SM types 2's. Then I see some more pictures.....then I want to go nuts on the credit card.

It won't be long until I'm stumbling the streets with a 40 oz in paper bag askin for dremel attatchments.

My name is Blue and I'm a recovering Mod addict, it's been 1yr since I last mod'd an SV.

My past crimes consist of:
- Motosliders
- Racetech Springs
- Fork oil
- Gold Valves
- Ohlins shock
- 2WJ full fairing race bodywork
- 2WJ street solo tail
- Signal/brake light intergrator
- DIY Fender eliminator
- 700cc pistons
- stage 2 cams
- adjustable cam sprokets
- valve spring
- hindle exhuast
- vance & hines exhuast
- tank spacers
- flush mount signals
- Rosomoto rearsets
- Nate's Plates risers
- Zero Gravity windshield
- K&N air filter
- Jet kit
- Anodized swingarm spools

and a bunch of little tweaks.

I am recovering though, I've only done 4 mods to the KLR in nearly a year of owning it :).... my KZ is a whole different story though. :-\

+1... my SV has been down all year getting custom paint and while it was down... decided to do a few other things like R6 throttle tube, rejet, new chain and sprockets, new plugs, oil change... etc. So since I hadn't been riding because bike is still not done... picked up second bike to ride while SV gets work done. ;)

I've got a '78 KZ650 it's curently stripped to the chassis for modifaction but here's what's done or is definatley going to be:
'82 KZ750 motor (have it and have test installed/run it)
GPZ fork springs cut to fit (vintage racer style)
~ 12" cut off the rear of the frame
all uneeded brackets shaved (including passger peg mounts)
drag bars
all stock lights removed
gauges removed (to be replaced by small electronic speedo)
rosomoto rearsets (the ones that came of my race SV)

That's about it at the moment, I'm still cleaning up the frame. Hopefully by next season it will be ready for the road.

See the thing I love about the SV is its so affordable that you can both pay the bike off (sometimes double payments) and still afford to mod the crap out of it! :D

Already done...

Motosliders
2004 GSX-R750 Showa front end with radial brakes
2004 GSX-R1000 rear shock (soon to be reworked)
Honda CBR-600 F3 rear wheel w/180/55 Pilot Power
Galfer wave rotors (rear right now, front soon!)
Sprocket Specialists custom sprockets (hard anodized rear, forged steel front 15/45)
Vortex adjustable rearsets
OEM tail cowling
Targa undertail with aluminum LED talilights
LP front flushmount signals
M4 full system with carbon silencer
Galfer steel brakelines (front and rear)
Custom stainless bolt kit (body and engine)

coming soon...

BMC airbox filter
SV1000 snorkle
PC III-usb with dyno run & custom map
Ignition advancer
R-6 throttle tube
PAIR removal
520 chain conversion
Front Galfer wave rotors
Brembo radial master cyclider
PVM or Carrozerria forged aluminum rims
black powderecoated frame, subframe and swingarm
Sharkskinz full fairings with custom paint

I may not stop there. Oh, and I do ride. Every day!

And just when you think you're done...you wake up with a cold sweat in the middle of the night, after dreaming of something completely awesome that you must do it! I still owe so much money on my bike, hell, it might even been almost paid off if I didn't mod anything. But poop on that. I need something to do during the winter anyways. Each winter I spend more and more too...

I've had my SV for three weeks.  Crashed it on day 2.  Put on a new clip-on, foot peg, and mirror on day 9.  PCIIIusb, day 10.  Expecting delivery any day now, yellow hugger and Galfer clear-coated SS brake lines.  On the docket for coming weeks, 520 conversion, 14/44 aluminum sprockets and something must be done about those forks if not the entire suspension system.  Debating a full exhaust, desnorkeling, and gold calipers.

Can you single-side-swing an sv?
