Anyone ever done this?

Only annoying thing would be stopping 3-4 times for fuel, but I think it would be fun to head out on a saturday morning, stay overnight and see/cruise chicago, and head back sunday..

Only thing is, being a new rider, I've never ridden for more than 2 or so hours straight, I can imagine things get tiring/boring driving through WI, I know it's bad enough in a car....

the west side of wisconsin offers some great roads but once you get past madison it's pretty boring. From Minneapolis to Madison I would defiinitely recommend hitting up hwy 108 through mindoro heading south in to west salem. This is my favorite road in wisconsin by far. My friend who has ridden Deal's Gap called it a mini deal's gap. I would also recommend highway 33 through wildcat mountain. This one's pretty similar to the mindoro cut but get's more traffic and is patrolled so be careful. Also 95 from Fountain City to Arcadia is really nice. I've ridden all over wisconsin and these are the best roads I've found. I don't know if it would be worth it to try to go to chicago. You'll get more headaches riding around there than you will enjoyment. But if you do it, don't pass up the west side of the state. Pretty much anything west of Madison is good.

Here's a link to my google maps page that has some description of some of the roads i've ridden on the west side of the state.

I go to school in Menomonie, WI and live in Milwaukee during the summer so combining my riding from both sides of the state I'd recommend staying mostly on the west side. But if you wanna go to Chicago you may want to consider the Lake Michigan Tour also.

Just my two cents
