2004 or 2005 Jamis Dakar Sport
up to 130mm of travel up front, something like 90mm in the rear, avid bb3 or bb5 disc brakes (cant remember which), e13 bashguard instead of big ring.
nothing fancy, but does plenty for being a cc bike.

I would love to get a bike again, but I just cannot bare the comfort (or lack there of) of those seats.... how do you guys do it?

You have to give them time to break in. Or do what my wife did and buy a "comfort" seat with springs :)

Without the padded shorts, I got used to the firm seat that was sent to me some time back. It took three days of quite a bit of pain, but it got better.

I now have padded shorts, and hope that once I start riding again (next week maybe?) it won't be so bad.

I forget...was it Joe or Lance that sent it to me? I think it was Joe. Great seat. Rather pricey. He gave it to me for shipping. I love this community.

I stood up and broke the chain on my old mtn bike and it took out the front deraileur and front chainrings. I had another ride planned for the next day and didn't want to jump into buying a bike right away, but fixing a nearly 20 year old bike seemed silly.

The purple Stumpjumper was a demo bike and they let me use it for the rest of the week. (probably helped that he remembered me buying the Bianchi Giro there a couple years before) I got spoiled pretty quickly going form the old no suspension bike, to a full suspension. (hydraulic discs are nice too) With the bike absorbing all the hits, I can pump the tires hard and ride in comfort and low resistance.

That's my 2nd Specialized Hardrock ... my first one was stolen, too... I've now invested more in locks, and I don't really lock it up on public streets anymore.

I'm glad you like the seat, the padded shorts will definitely help when getting back into it. I started putting more miles on my bike a short time ago. After a few weeks, I can sit for about 45 minutes before the tip of my willy goes numb (TMI, I know).

I'll post pics from my next ride on Thrus. It's windy today and I hate the wind, so I'm hooking up to the trainer when I get home.

What kind of seat was it? I am researching saddles and trying to get opinions on a bunch of different ones.
