when riding where should i keep my rpms....it seems 5 is good. let me know

That's right around the SV's happy place. I usually run 4-7. Below 4K it feels like it's lugging, and I save above 7K for when I'm movin' on.

Well you should shift about 7k for max Hp and TQ, see a dyno plot for exact point, and anything below that works. I keep mine under 6k cause it sounds like the choke is open at highway speed and the engine is over reving. Lower RPMs for crusing, mid to highs for twisting roads and city driving.
