So I have a 03 sv650 that I just rebuilt the engine and I believe I have a timing issue. Bike runs a little rough when idling and when riding it bogs at about 6k rpm pretty badly. When I remove the vacuum hose from the IAP sensor it tends to run quit a bit better but still not great. Also yes the cams for the timing are 100% correct (I only checked it 3 times to be sure)
Any ideas?

Disconnecting the IAP will put the ECM into "Safe Mode" which runs fixed ignition timing and fuel maps. Safe-mode also causes the spark plugs to fire every 360deg instead of every 720deg. That alone will not affect engine bog at 6k rpm but might explain why it runs differently w/without the IAP connected.

Did this bike sit for a long time while the engine was being rebuilt? Maybe do a fuel volume test to be sure the high-pressure fuel filter did not gum-up/clog.

Did the engine run ok before the rebuild?
