The only split I see is supposed to be there. That's where the axle is clamped in place, looking from the front you'll see the bolt that holds the assembly tight. It is only on the right fork leg, not the left. The axle threads into the left instead of clamping.

Almost every time I dropped my SV, the fork slider tubes got bent.

Remove the tubes from the triples and check for a crease where the triple clamps down on them. If there is a crease, replace them. They cannot be repaired.

If they are slightly bent with no crease, a machine shop or suspension shop will be able to straighten them.

I learned this at Traxxion Dynamics when I had my forks rebuilt.

that's normal, so that the bolt at the bottom can hold onto the axle.

with the bolt loose, the axle can slide in and out. with the bolt tight, it holds the axle. if it wasn't for the split, it wouldn't work.
