Im trying to install some SV Racing Parts 2.5" clip ons. Everything is going as planned, fitment and quality is excellent.

Except for one thing. I am installing these on my 2005 650N, with the "square box" MC. The MC hits the clip on clamp in all positions, and I dont know what to do!

I see someone has installed them on an N in the for sale thread, so I am obviously doing something wrong.

Tomorrow I will finish installing the SS lines, and want to ride. Help!

If you check out their site http://www.svracingparts.com/products/#ecwid:category=477663&mode=product&product=3033530 , they show that you need a $15 spacer for the N model. I haven't actually installed these bars, but I assume that this is what's causing your problem. Call Blair to confirm before you order.

*** Edit - Also noticed that you are using the "reverse mount" option that brings the bars further back. If you flip them to "standard" it looks like you'll have clearance. Meaning, flip the flat riser around to make the rounded side face the front of the bike. The reservoir would then only have to clear a thinner piece of metal. You may also be able to mount them "as is" on the back side of the fork tube, which accomplishes the same thing. Don't know how much this would affect turning radius or interference with the tank though.

I did purchase the N spacer, that simply pulls the bar away from the triple clamp bolt.

But, you are 100% right on the mounting. Flipped it, and the MC fits!

Now to bleed these blasted brakes. :angry7:

Well at least I was correct about something! (doh!)

I actually thought about deleting the first part after I looked at your pics again and the SVRP site. However I figured if I was stupid, the whole world should get to see it. Plus, since I had no clue what the spacer did I figured that it was worth a shot. Glad you got it cleared up. I was actually surprised that no one else had answered you yet.

I appreciate the help, regardless of how stupid you and I look! ;D

Went for a short ride today, roughly 2 hours total on the bike, and clip ons suck!

Bad back coupled with clip ons= one unhappy rider. I will be going back to the stock naked bar since it worked sooooo well. The more aggressive stance is not worth the added pain.

you're having to run them in the more aggressive position, with a spacer that makes them more aggressive. not a big surprise that you don't like them.

What I find most interesting is Im 6'2'', and I feel pretty stretched out. Cant imagine what shorter people feel like.

Suck it up and give it a bit longer before you decide.
If the stock bars worked sooooo well then why change them.

If it aint broke, don't fix it.
Its a sickness I tell ya!:icon_biggrin:

I do it with everything I own. I seem to think I can make them better. Sometimes I can, but other times I cant.

I will keep them on for the next week or so, then decide for sure. I loved the stance in the canyons, but on a typical weekend I will do 2-500 miles, and while a lot of that is in the twisties, the more aggressive stance might not be as beneficial as I thought it would be for an "aggressive sport tourer" rider like myself.

I'm the same height as you and have had real (stock GSXR, much lower than those or stock S) clipons on an SV. you get used to it.
