I think it's funny he's pushing the idea "inexpensive" bikes when a stock 450 MX bike sells for about $2000 more than the SV. That's before turning it into a street bike.

I've always like Roland's work, and I have been following his 450 sport bike idea for quite some time now. I think its a spectacular idea. I'd have to ride one to see if I'd want it as a street bike, but as a track bike, hell yeah! Can't fault someone for having an opinion. I loved my SV, but it wasn't the best bike I've owned and/or ridden. To each their own. And yes, the world does view the SV650 as a girl's bike. Oh well...

I like his work but think most of his concepts to date have been somewhat commercial to the HD market, liked his idea of a frame and streetfigher 'kit' for a GSXR engine but he never came through, so who cares if he thinks SV's are gay. Shite, 1G SV's are girls bikes so what do you expect. He has more talent, ability, resources, and skill than I so good for him.

Celebrity is a strange thing. I am not impressed with Mr. Roland or the article. WOW someone is changing the body work and suspension on a motorcycle! I....just....can't....believe. Alright. Maybe my feelings were just hurt. Last time some called me that it was out at the jungle gym. The family refers to it as the "SV" affair of '88. Heck the SV wasn't even around then which makes this whole thing that much creepier.

what roland is trying to do is start an entry level race series that offers a GREAT beginner or spec race bike that is READY TO RACE. Using a MX bike means there are multiple brands to choose from and there is already a huge aftermarket for these motors.

Show me another RACE bike you can buy, and be competitive in its race series, for $10k.
