The engine and internal parts of the frame on the SV are covered with nine years of road grime, dust, and spilled oil.

I want to clean it up before I put it all back together.

I know that when cleaning inside that area, I'll need to seal off the carb throats to keep water out of the engine.

What do you guys recommend for procedure and cleaning agents? I'll be doing this in my drive, so the closest thing I'll have to a pressure washer will by a water hose with a nozzle.

I wouldnt use a pressure washer anyway, too much pressure. Garden hose is just fine.
I get some simple green, a scrub brush (for doing dishes, rims, whatever you want, a toothbrush even works) and a bucket of hot water and go to town with all 3, mixing it up.
rinse with hose, and repeat.

Bean Clean! I just got my can in today, going to try it after work. Supposedly it rinses very clean with just a hose.
