I crashed my sv a couple hours ago and was wondering what the *rough* cost of a few parts are. I have never priced this stuff. I am going to take it to a dealer and have them give me a estimate but I'm sure they would price up stock parts and I'm not looking for stock. I'm just having them look at it see if its fixable.

Here are the major parts that are in need of replacing. What does some of this stuff cost?

Forks
Handle bars
Radiator
Gauges and headlight
Tank
Rear plastic+ under tail.
1 peg

What I want:
I've been wanting to get the gsxr front end set up and the Buell+vapor for a while. What doses the gsxr front end set up cost and what does that include? I think the Buell+vapor cost around 400 if i remember correctly.

Any information on the price of the things I listed would be of great help.

And in case any one was interested. Here is a brief overview of what happened. I was going about 50 mph into a blind slightly decreasing radius corner and was lined up for a late apex. Just after I fully tipped in I saw several large rocks sitting dead in the middle of my line. I ended up attempting to split small gap between two of the rocks. I ended up hitting the side of one of the rocks roughly 4 inch diameter which lifted my front wheel off the ground. When it landed the bars were at full lock and a simple low side occurred.

The bike proceeded to hit the guard rail on its side (which bent the forks I assume) and it spun into the middle of the road. I slid for maybe 30 feet then hit the guard rail which ended my slide.

Injury wise Its all good on my end. (Pics below) I was wearing a helmet, armored leather jacket, gauntlet gloves and icon street boots. The gear absolutely saved my ass. I'm glad I wasn't injured but I'm ****** because that's a real dumb way to crash..+ I really loved my sv lol..now its probably totaled.

Glad you walked away unharmed.

Chances are good that insurance will total it. That's a lot of damage.
If you decided to fix it yourself, I would very roughly estimate:

Forks - find a GSXR front end & swap it out. ~$500 used?
Handle bars - Bikemaster Daytona bars, ~$30?
Radiator - Find a good one used, maybe ~$150?
Gauges and headlight - Again, find some used stuff, guessing ~$200?
Tank - $200 - $400 depending on the deal you can find & condition
Rear plastic+ under tail. Another $100 or so for used / rashed fixable stuff
1 peg - cheap. Used for $5 or so.

Total could run you anywhere from roughly $1,000 to $1,500 bucks, if you bargain hunt & take your time.
Seat of the pants guesstimate.

Insurance isn't getting involved..and it will be fixed by myself IF it gets fixed. Last thing I need is a guy charging me 80 an hour to fix something I can do for free lol.
How bad are the forks? They may have absorbed the impact... But, you may have a bent frame too... As long as you did not damage the frame you are good....

You can fix it.... bikes can be fixed... SV Parts are widely available... It may take some time to buy what you need... But, any monkey with a tool set, can remove damaged parts and install good parts.

Take your time and shop...

If you have interest in some of my parts prices are negotiable. I am willing to deal a fair price. I base my prices on what I have purchased parts for before... Luis

That's not that bad..... I have rebuilt much worse than that. You don't need to replace that tank, just a little bondo and repaint. That side piece of the tail, you can get on ebay for $40 shipped. Luis looks to have the front end parts you need. Looks like the radiator is going to be your only part that may take a little more searching to find.

Yeah, The tank is repairable... I would search for a race shop to give you a reference to a good bike body shop... This tank cost me $200.00 to repair... That is painted but in Black. Red paint alone was over $100.00...

Tail section, you are better off buying the right color one... Mine is red and painting it will cost you more than buying new... Whatever you do, save all the rubber grommets and the tail light bolt clips... They are not included on new ones, and I got one in ebay without them.

The front wheel looks like it is holding air... I would take it to a shop and check if it is straight have them check the brake rotors too.. Generally they will not charge you more than $20.00 if they charge at. all

Those forks are toast!!! GSXR forks are great... But you need to buy the entire front end to make it all work. If you want to upgrade I have done a few...

So if you have questions I can help a little... Luis 602 980 5707

Well I only got to work on it for about an 2 hours today and I decided I am not taking it to a shop. I don't see what a shop can tell me that I cant find out some how myself. My dad is going to bring me some material that inspects welds for cracks. I removed my tail plastic and other than the cracked plastic nothing from the tank on back appears bent or squeezed in any way. The bike started on the first try and it ran fine and the radiator seems repairable.

Unfortunately Both tires have vertical rips in the sidewalls so they are toast and the front rim has a small chunk missing maybe 1/8 around on the lip. I'm thinking all I need to do is a gsxr front end + gauges, lights, and new tail. That should fix 90 percent of what appears to be wrong...Its not really looking that bad.

And to svr650 I'll be definitely have some questions for ya. I'll pm ya later tonight. I do some school work for a few hours then I'll look at that gsxr forum topic a little more before I start asking ya questions.

Oh and a special thanks goes to MotoFusion who is sending his spare gauges to me for free :)
