Hi everyone. So, I'm thinking about selling my '79 Yamaha SR500 so I can buy an '03 or later SV650. I feel bad about selling my bike though, it only has 5,000 miles and its in amazing condition. I only ride in the city, so I don't need a huge bike. I really like the idea of upgrading to a newer SV, with fuel injection and a v-twin, and ELECTRIC START!

From what I've read online, its a great, reliable, fast bike that I won't outgrow for a while. I've gotten a few offers of $2,000 for my sr500. I'm gonna miss it if I let it go. I hope I won't regret this. :'(

You wont regret selling that and getting an SV for the city. I used to drive in and out of the city everyday with my old SV

I think you'll love the SV in the Boston area.

FWIW I'd look for an 04+. The 03's were a weird year and Suzuki made more changes to the bike for 04+. Basically a lot of parts are made for either 03, or 04+, so it can make finding replacements and accessories a little difficult at times.

Why sell the bike you have, if you don't need the money? Nothing wrong with having 2 bikes.

Thanks for the advice everyone. I'm looking for an '06 or '07 for around $4000. Hoping to find a black one, but I might take a blue one.

got any photos of the yamaha? i always liked them, thought they were great lookers. spoked wheels?
I wish the wheels were spoked, its got cast wheels. It looks sweet, I put clubman bars on it. Check it out.

My friend, you are living my dream. Unfortunately I'm a poor law student. Just upgrading my current bike will force me to eat baloney sandwiches for a couple months. But I'm ok with that. One day I hope to have a bike for each day of the week, like you.
