I picked up a Viper Micro everything was goin well until I tired to fit the mid pipe on my bike it it was a no go the pipe is to big to get the mide pipe supplied on... I made sure it was the right model etc....

Am I missing something? Shouldn't the mide pipe just slide over my existing cut pipe?

Thanks!

When I got my Viper, the midpipe wasn't big enough to fit over the existing pipe. I took it to a local muffler shop and gave the guy $5 to expand the end of the midpipe 1/8". It took him 30 seconds.

I'd call them and give them sh!t for not supplying you with the proper parts.

It seems that most of the other manufacturers of aftermarket exhaust get it right. I know Yosh did, at least!

I tried everything to get this mid pipe on and it's now not in the best condition. I will be calling Viper or exotic sportbike and getting a new one for no charge.

Why should I have to pay for the link pipe kit and waste my time taking it some where to get it sized when it supposed to be made to fit!

I highly doubt you will receive anything for free. You need to order the link pipe listed with the can, Part #CNP410. Its at the end of the rows of pipes in the Exoticsportbike.com link, and at the bottom of the page on the Viperracecans.com link.

I suspect you will have to have the link pipe to make the pipe fit correctly, unless you have the end of the pipe flared as someone else mentioned. If you have already cut your pipe to fit without the link pipe, it would probably be cheaper and quicker to have a shop make the simple mod. You might also need to have the flare split and add a clamp to make the joint seal up better.
Use some hight temp joint compound as well. Good luck.

Ahhh my apologies then, I misunderstood, and thought you were trying to fit to the mid pipe without the link piece. That is likely a legitimate foul up from the shipper/manufacturer I would guess. Good luck getting things resolved.

I thought the same thing! I bet their customer service is just as low budget!

I bent the rim a bit but I think if I take it to the muffler shop to expand it a bit the pipe clip should cover the imperfections....

This seems to be a common issue with Vipers, but is easily fixed. There was a thread on it way back, but I think it got deleted.

Get a hacksaw or Sawzall and get someone to hold the can vertically or clamp it down. Then make four, one half inch deep cuts into the flange where the can fits to the link pipe so that it makes four individual tabs. What I mean by that is, look straight down onto the flange, so that looks like a cirlcle, then quarter the circle like you would a pie.

Then get a rag and some pliers, and gently bend out your new "tabs" untill you can fit the flange to the linkpipe. If you do it right, the clamp will cover the cuts that you made, and allow the flange on the can to cinch down on the linkpipe.

After test fitting them. Get some high heat RTV silicone and seal it all up when you do the final fit.

Does your sleeve have a flair on it? Mine did. Perhaps the 1st gen mid-pipe they supply you with is different, but I would think it would be quite similar. You can see my midpipe here:

Call them and be sure they sent you the correct part.

Again, I had ZERO problems fitting the pipe to the bike.

If I remember correctly, I had to slide the can over the linkpipe. Not the other way around. And then slide the linkpipe over the midpipe on the bike. I'll have to look when I get home. But yeah, checking with them is a good idea. Doesn't seem uncommon for them to send out the wrong part.

I paid over 200$ with the Link Pipe kit...

I have the correct part # I have heard no problems with this on the 2nd gen's just the 1st...

I am taking the mid pipe in to a shop to expand it a bit this week and go for the 2nd round this weekend...

Everything seems to turn into a major project :(
