i am looking for the electrical size of the sensor i need to do my gsxr swap. i have found tons of different sensors and not real sure what i am looking for. also i have found the magnets for the rotors already but not sure how many i need, I am guessing it depends on the sensor. Most people say 4, but the one done in moto mag has 8?? Any info would help Thanks

It was posted that a GSXR sensor will pick up on the rotor bolts and the plug matches the SV plug. Anyone know which year(s) the plug matches for sure?

I like that it will A) pick up the rotor bolts and B) plug in for a clean install.

Needed the speed healer for current tire size and future gear changes anyway.

Hope you don't mind me pseudo-reviving a dead thread but even after 19 pages, I don't think the issue of the newer Gixxer 600 fork rotor issue holder size was ever addressed. My question is that I have a K8 Gixxer 600 front end and I'm not sure what size (or how many magnets) I need, along with the holders for my rotors. I was under the impression I needed 8 magnets, not 4 as I have newer model calipers (not sure if me having a 2nd Gen '06 650 changes anything). So, in that regard, does anyone know definitively if I need the 1/2 inch holders for the rivets and 3/8 inch magnets? Or 3/8 inch cups for 1/4 inch magnets for my particular rotor? Also, do I need 4 or 8 magnets, without having to use a Speedohealer. This seemed to be unclear as well. Please help! :worship: Thanks again everyone.

after a first test with the gps, it seams that the error is 5 mph at 45mph
if it reads like the stock one...then the error will be bigger with the speed
The error comes from suzuki programming in the speedo head or the ecu, not from the sender. If your rotor is 8 buttons, it should match your previous error with the OEM sensor exactly. If it doesn't, your sender isn't triggering properly.

i realized that this thread is pretty old but I'm going thru the conversion right now.
I have the bracket pretty much setup exactly as shown on some of the pix and wired up.
The only issue I'm facing is trying to mount the magnets/cups.
I'm using SV1000 front wheel so the rivet holes are larger than my small magnet and cups and the large one too big (maybe by 1mm).

I'm wondering if I should just glue the cup directly on the rotor surface evenly spaced out or if there would be an adverse effects in doing so. I'd rather glue than drill to be honest but wanted to check to get some input before gluing away.

Hey Guys I have gone through this thread multiple time and a few others and cant seem to figure why my speedo is reading out double the speed. GPS says 30mph and my speedo say 60mph.

The bike is a 06 SV650 with a 04 GSXR front end swap. The wiring is just as its been stated here with the Cherrie sensor and 8 magnets.

Any help would be much appreciated.

I had a similar problem. I have an '03 SV650 with an '02 GSXR front end. I bought it with the speedo/odo reading double with the stock rotors w/ 4 magnets.

I changed out the rotors to a 6 button design. I taped a single magnet between a spoke and it registered what appeared to be a 1/4 of the speed when moving. I taped another magnet on an opposing spoke and it registers correctly now. I'm assuming 4 magnets would double the speed again but realistically it's working well now.

Anybody know of why this may be?

So I have tried a lot of different set ups and still not reading the right speed. I even went down to one magnet and it still reads high.
What about if you take all the magnets off?

The cherry sensor has a magnet built into it and was originally designed to trigger off of metal of gear teeth, not magnets in rotors. I am guessing it is probably triggering off of the metal of the carrier (if it is steel) or the webs of the braking surface that meet the rotor.

I don't use any magnets at all.
