Just finished my 2000 750 swap (as well as zx14 rear shock), feels awesome but I got a little bit of wobble feel here and there. Anyone running a gsxr dampner with their swap?
I'm running an Ohlins damper that was made for a GSXR. Not convinced it's really needed, but, I have it to be safe. And because I already had it since it was on my GSXR previously.

I've looked through this section and couldn't find a definitive answer, but I think it's possible... Just need confirm for you guys.

For a 1st gen swap with SRAD triples, wheel, and axle combined with lets say 04/05 GSXR forks and brakes. Can we used SRAD rotors? Based on the matrix's out there - no spacers/shims needed correct?

Wow - I'm way off

What rotors could I use to use the least amount of spacers and shims? Basically I want to cut costs as much as possible but also be safe.

I'm probably going to go for the radial black calipers if that helps.

Can someone confirm this will work please?

I want to use SV1K rotors with 05 1000 forks, an SRAD wheel, and the black tokico calipers (from an 06 1000).

From the chart, it looks as though I should be good on rotor diameter, so I should not need caliper spacers. But will I need rotor spacers?

I think SRAD wheel is too wide for modern triples

I should have mentioned I'm using SRAD triples to take care of that

I've read this whole thread, and still have a question.

Regarding the thin spacers needed, such as to run the R1/6 calipers on the 310mm rotors, is there any issue with loss of engagement on the caliper locating dowels? I don't have the parts yet, so I'm not sure what engages on what. But there's some discussion in here of the bolts carrying shear loads. Just looking at the parts, it looks like the calipers are supposed to pilot on the steel dowel rings that are pressed into the fork bottoms, and the bolts are only loaded in tension. The dowels are pretty short.

Does 2mm risk losing engagement of the straight sections of dowel and caliper? Whatever the overall height, both parts are likely to have chamfers of some size. Would an ideal system have either longer dowels machined, or maybe dowels with a flange to make it an integrated dowel/spacer combo?

I don't have dowels at all. Torque right and no problem.

If using 05+1k/06+600/750 forks and 310mm rotors you get full pad engagement with no spacers. I've personally done this, 07 750 forks and SV1k rotors.

The dowels primary purpose is for location. The 10mm bolt is far stronger in shear than the dowels.

I can get a pretty good deal on a 2008 GSXR 600/750 front end with everything included except the wheel/rotor. I have a Gen1 and want to make sure this will work with the TWF bearing (minus the ignition since I will mount this on the side of my frame like a harley). Also - I know I'll have to make a bracket for the gauges.

I was a little confused on the wheel/rotor compatibility. Obviously my first choice will be a 2008 600 wheel/rotor combo but if that's hard to find, what are my options?

If you have a naked model then you will also need to rig up the headlight somehow.

The steering stem bearing is the same for all modern GSX-R's (96+). Obviously, you will lose your steering lock. The steering stops are different too. I'm not sure what most 1st gen guys do about that. I believe D'Ecosse has a solution, but I don't know if he is still making those. I'm sure he will chime in soon enough, or you can go to the TWF forum.

You need a "newer" (2000+ for the GSX-R750, 2001+ for the GSX-R600, and any GSX-R1000) front wheel with at least 310mm rotors. If you go with 320mm rotors then you will need a spacer. This is assuming you are using the '08 calipers. You will also need the '08 style front axle.

I think that covers everything.

Thanks Bossman.

Yeah I know I'll need the TWF bearing and with that particular upper triple, the ignition is on the wrong side so I'll lose the lock.

The brake calipers are included which is great, but I don't want to buy a wheel from somebody and then find out it won't work for some stupid reason. I'm assuming the spacer you mentioned would be for the calipers if I use a 320mm rotor?

Maybe I need to read through the thread again...maybe I overlooked something.

If everything works out, I should have a complete front end from clip ons, controls to the tire for around $600. Is that what I should expect to pay or should it be less?

Yes, the calipers spacers are only if you go with the larger rotors (320mm).

The price sounds about right, but I'm no expert.
