Hey everyone,

I might be going to check out a couple sv1000's this week. One is an '06 and the other is an '03. Is there anything I should look for in particular or ask the owner about, other than the common stuff? This would be my first fuel injected bike, is there anything related to that?

The '06 has a bit more power (like 5 HP) and lower pegs due to a different rear subframe. The later models also have an upgraded slave cylinder seal but some of the guys on the SV Portal have even had problems with those. Really, the '03s are good bikes as long as they are taken care of. Of course, that pretty much goes for any motorcycle.

And it's a bit hard to get to since you have to raise the tank but having a look at the "green connecter" would be worthwhile just to make sure it's not charred.

K6 would deffinately be the better pick. If for no other reason than parts availability. K3"S" is a ******* child, and by shear volume, later year models vastly outnumber them, equalling more crashed bikes to get parts from. Since the 1K is no longer produced, future parts availabillity WILL be limited.

And Russ, the K3 higher subframe has nothing to do with the peg position. K3 Nakeds, and K4+"S" models have different rearsets.

You are right about the rearsets being different Rick, but I thought the need for different rearsets was necessitated by the lower subframe?
