I'm looking into the full M4 exhaust and was wondering if you've installed it and needed to install a power commander...or similar system.

Yes. Unless you can find someone local to tune the stock ecu.
Not that I could stand having mine down for any length of time, however short, but is there any shop one could send the factory ECU to and have it reprogrammed for a specific exhaust system?

i have the M4 full system and power commander and I'm very happy with the results.

Did you actually have it Dyno'd? Before/after HP/torque charts?
I've been running around on my '03 SV1000S since '05 with a full M4 system and no power commander. It is my first bike, so I'm not really sure how much better it could have been. I am in the process now of making a new rear head-pipe, power commander and dyno. The previous owner put the M4 on. It's been just fine, apparently, with occasional back-firing under high speed engine braking.
it will smooth things out more. your throttle response will be more crisp with a PC. so i've heard.

if i ever go with a full exhaust, i would def. put a PC on.

very true
Is using the m4 map off the PC's website good enough?
No you do not need to. It might help, but it won't hurt anything to run it as is.

I haven't had mine dyno'd yet waiting for $$$. M4's website has a map with the same mods I have and it works pretty smooth compared to the old map. My freind got his K5 dyno'd and he was impressed at the difference. His bike ended up at 78 HP from what he said but i didn't see the dyno sheet.

link to the map on the m4 site. I cant find it :angry1:
I bought my bike with a Yoshi can. The power range on it makes me sick when compared to my first gen with a can and carb mods. I plan on trying the techlusion box as soon as my first gen sells..

REVIEW

All the reviews I have seen are great. Plus with a military discount you can get the tap-on unit for 100 + shipping. A unit for around 115, and not having to pay for the dyno tuning.. It may not be as good as the power commander, but it is definitely a hell of a sight cheaper..
