my pump also has started to become a lot louder, but hasn't given out yet. I'm kinda worried it might be leaning out the fuel mixture by not providing enough pressure? My last SV was a smooth whirrrr, whereas this one is a little rough.

If you had an extra fuel line to splice, you could fit a pressure gauge to test its pressure. There is a spec in the service manual.
