'04 Svs650 with 5800 miles.
Runs terrific.
On the way home Friday I noticed a new sound, steady, not rpm dependent.
Reminds me of a open vacuum line howling/sucking air on a car engine.
Traced it down to the fuel pump under the tank.

Still starts and runs perfect. Disconnecting the fuel pump while running stops the noise (and of course the engine soon after.)

Anyone have a similar experience?
I couldn't locate anything in a forum search that was the same problem.

Thanks for any feedback.

I can relate, but not associate. The Mustangs always made a bunch of fuel pump noise (whining or humming) before the pump went out. Might be a week, might be a year.

The pump on my 03 sv650s with 21K makes a good amount of noise but no problems. I think they're just plain loud pumps.

The fuel pumps do make a surprising amount of noise, but it's usually hard to hear after you start the engine. If your pump has gotten louder than I suspect it's on its way out.
This is very rare, these pumps are extremely reliable.

my pump also has started to become a lot louder, but hasn't given out yet. I'm kinda worried it might be leaning out the fuel mixture by not providing enough pressure? My last SV was a smooth whirrrr, whereas this one is a little rough.

If you had an extra fuel line to splice, you could fit a pressure gauge to test its pressure. There is a spec in the service manual.
