I currently have a 1pc leather suit I wear for my trackdays and some Shift jeans with kevlar that I wear tooling around town and some shorter mountain runs. I have a pretty big trip coming up this summer so I'd like to get some decent textile pants to wear.

I've narrowed it down to 3 options. My main criteria are CE knee armor, waterproofing, venting options or the ability to ride comfortably in 60-90 deg weather, and "style." By style I really mean a loose fitting or cargo type style. I've had some textile pants in the past that were a very traditional cut that I found uncomfortable.

Fieldsheer:

I like the cut, adjustable waist, waterproofing, price.

Shift Equator SS:

A nice looking alternative to the FS pants. The only plus I see to these are the pre-curved knees and the sealed seams/waterproof zippers. $15 more than FS.

Joe Rocket Atomic Pants:

Does that link work? If not this link should work and they are $110:

Looks to offer great protection and has the ability to vent when the temps rise which is a huge bonus. Knee armor looks to be the best.

Anyone have experience with these pants and can throw in their 2 cents?

Thanks!

I dont have the JR Atomic pants but I do have some similar. All I have to say is stay away. My pants are falling apart. The seams are literally coming apart and thats with VERY limited use. Unfortunately I had bought the pants, threw out the receipt and was beyond any warranty. Based on my experiences with them...I'll never consider JR again. I'm looking to replace them with the Scorpion textile pants.

What model JR do you have?

i have a pair of joe rocket pants, alter ego i believe.

i'm really happy with them.

it's easy to convert between warm weather (take out liner, open up mesh on thighs and a$$) and cold weather pretty easilly. I've put a little over 15 000kms on them. I haven't had any troubles with them and am really happy with them. aside from the knee pads being a little loose, i have no complaints.

I also have two joe rocket jackets (blaster I believe, and one of their power-trip cruiser jackets).

I buy joe rocket because one of my favourite dealerships is actually run buy people who started out with the creator of joe rocket gear. i always get A+ service, so they keep me coming back.

now, i don't want to totally discount lifeon2whls here. honestly, i haven't seen any of those pants you ask about. i also don't want to sound like a fanboy either. my favourite jacket is my alpinestars jacket.

just wanted to say i've been really happy with my JR pants. i checked, and they are alter ego's.

Try some olympia pants.. they are cordura instead of polyester... much better abrasion resistance.

I ended up ordering the Fieldsheer Street pants. There appear to be some better options out there but I couldn't pass on the price. Again, props to newenough.com I emailed them asking if they could match $69 shipped that motorcyclecloseouts.com could offer and the general manager emailed me back with a nice email saying no problem and was very appreciative that I emailed them with the opportunity to earn my business.

Weird, of these exact same pants?? Here's my email (I attached a PDF of my shopping cart ready to check out at motorcyclecloseouts.com)

Hello,
I would like to order the Fieldsheer Street Pants in size Med:
http://www.newenough.com/protective...eldsheer/street_textile_motorcycle_pants.html
I found them on motorcyclecloseouts.com for $68.98 shipped (see attached).
I've ordered from you before and liked the service you provide. I will order from you if you are able to match the price - can you do this?
Thanks!
Jacob

And the reply:

Dear Jacob,

Thanks for writing. We are glad you'd choose New Enough over our
competition. We can offer the price match you requested!

It causes bookkeeping problems for us to charge prices for products or
shipping that are lower than our website indicates, but here here is how
we can handle the transaction most conveniently:

- You buy the product from our website at our normal price

- Receive the item and make sure you like it

- Email me back when you decide its a "keeper" and I can issue you a
refund for $9.01 or I can offer you a Gift Certificate for 10%
more--your choice.

If this will work for you, there is no need to contact me to order--just
feel free to use the website as normal. When you email me back please
include this email in your reply and indicate whether you prefer the the
100% gift certificate or the refund .

Again, thanks for using New Enough!

Yeah, here is what he sent me.

Kevin,
I am sorry we will not be able to match that price. Fieldsheer is
changing vendors, and some stores have choose to closeout all of their
remaining stock, but are not allowed to purchase once they have sold
out. We choose to continue buy so that maybe at the end we might get
some really good closeout deals. If you can get it from them then I
would because it is a great deal just make sure that you can return or
exchange it if it does not work for you or is defective. Thanks.

Sincerely,

Daniel Almsted,

I got rid of my JR pants and just got a pair of Scorpion Invasion pants. Love them so far. They have a removable liner strech points in the right areas, etc etc. Well worth the 169.
