Hello, I have an 03 sv650s that I bought of my brother. The bike is bone stock and has very few kilometers, about 30k and almost a third of those I did in 4 monts of the seasson.

So it`s winter time and time to upgrade it. I got most parts already, zx6r shock, leovince can, braided lines etc...the only thing I`m not completly sure what to get is for the forks. The guy that will do the work is a huge sv fan, and really knows just about what there is to know about these bikes. He suggested me this kit:
matrisdampers.com/en/prodotto/products/fke/
What I gain with this is preload adjustment, but that can also be adjusted on stock forks right? I weigh 70kg(150-160 punds) without gear so stock springs should be ok for me right? There is also a flow regulator in the kit, but I don`t know is that is like a valve emulator?...it just got me thinking should I just leave forks springs stock and buy the Gold Valve Cartridge Emulator?
Or something diferent altogether? but budget is limited, so no gsxr swaps.

I think you need springs as well. The stock ones are the right rate for someone who weighs 80-90lbs. 0.85s are the right rate for you.
I'm not familiar with the Matris kits, so I can't compare them to emulators, but as long as they make the damping curve less progressive they will help.

Im about to send my forks to a guy that build up cartridge internals from GSXR parts. The cost is reasonable and the product seems to be pretty well recieved. Hes been doing it for a while. Im ditching the Emulators just because I dont want to fool around with the tuning process. But they certainly work, many people use them but they take some time and effort to get right.

But the person Im sending mine to is on here, Matt Patton. He also works with Matris and Andreani cartridges, so you'll have some choices. He is pleasant to talk to and I think you'd do well to have a discussion with him.

I did the Matris upgrade quite a few years ago, made a huge difference, yes only gaining preload adjustment, (more precise than from factory) and a change in shim pack, plus properly weighted springs and fresh oil! I upgraded to a Matris rear shock as well. I'm very happy with it! It looks as if the have a cartridge kit now as well as the emulator style kit, I believe it ads rebound and compression adjustment!

It looks as if the support and supply has improved a lot since my upgrade, especially in California!
