Anyone have any tricks on how to seat oil / dust seals without buying that $60 "tool"

PVC pipe is the answer...

Get a PVC T section that just fits over the fork tubes. Sand one of the edges down... Use the part of the T to hammer down the seal. Works awesome. I also took a piece of PVC and split it in two... works okay.. the T is much much better.

I didn't use any tools at all to install the oil seals, just pressed them in with my fingers. I used a nylon wedge and a rubber mallet to fit the bushings.
