I want to put (41mm fork) f650gs damper rods in a 2008 naked and a dl650 (like) shock in the back. is that possible? one of the spring retailers says the diameter of the two springs is different. I'm new, never taken forks apart: are the tops of the rods going to be that different so the springs, stanchions won't sit correctly? peace, thanks.

Its easier to use CBR f2 or F3 cartridges I can't remember which one.. The BMW stuff is to out there for it to be economical.

This is out dated though becuase everyone is doing AK20's or GSXR forks.

Theres a thread and write up on the CBR swap but it was done before the VS buyout and was probably lost in the changeover. I mean deleted.

What's your goal in the swap? From reading into your post, I'm assuming that you would like a longer travel suspension front and rear.

For the forks, I'm not sure what you could do. You'd be the first doing something like that. But with the customer work needing to be done, why not go ahead and replace the front forks with something off a DRZ-SM or some other dual sport bike.

There is a SV that someone used DRZ-E forks on the front end. Looks good.
