dropping a G2 motor into G1 frame

Any hints? What to watch for? Any modifications required? I can think of one - attaching G2 tank to frame and powering fuel pump. Guess I'll have to use G2 electronics throughout also.

I'm doing this more for cosmetic reasons since I like the look of the G1 frame - I'm thinking that the G2 motor/injection is better than G1 although frame geometry is a step back. This will be a naked racer- bikini fairing and portuguese belly pan.

Thanks

Ask a tuner what engine is better --> Gen 1 or Gen 2. I think most tuners say that the gen 1 engine is more easy to tune. I have read some where that the second gen crank is weaker butt i don't know where i did read it.

You say that you do it for cosmetic reasons?? the only things you see that are different are the oil cooler and the crankcase covers.

You can use the second gen engine with the first gen carbs.
Thanks for the response. I'm going to use G2 motor, Fi and electronics, forks and wheels on the G1 frame.

My understanding is that the G2 motor are a little weaker (particularly the 03 crank), but make more power and can be tuned up easier due to the Fi system. The G2 frame is definately superior but not as nice looking which is why I'm doing this. I currently race a pretty modified 05 SV (suspension, slipper clutch, PClll, brembo master, EBC rotors/pads) except for the engine.

Just use the first gen wheels, they are almost the same.

When you want to put FI on a first gen you also need to mount a external fuel pump. And the second gen tank does not fit.
Ask Zoran from TWF racing http://www.twfracing.com/forums/index.php what engine is more easy to tune. He has the experiance in tuning sv650 engines.
well the motor is in. The secondary throttle body butterflies motor enterfeers with the frame. Wondering how important those sec. butterflies are....
The secondary throttle body butterflies or the servo motor??
When you remove the servo you will get a a malfunction. And the FI light will burn.
Problem is it's got a throttle sensor on the other throttle body. You need to keep the servo and the sensor on the servo. You need to mount the sensor somehow on the servo to fool the ecu.

I'm in the same proces with removing the complete secondary valves on my bored out trottle bodies.
