So I just picked up a Stubby Delkevic exhaust for my 03 650 and it didn't come with install instructions.

Anyone know where to cut the stock exhaust off?

I read a thread that suggested that 2" was a bear minimum from the weld. If you go just a smidge too short, you'll be faced with trying to get the clamp to seal with the slip on pipe over the larger od weld. It was suggested in the thread to go an extra bit (maybe 1/8th inch or so) past 2" so as to avoid the potential sealing problem.

It seems logical to me...

You don't need any extra. Mine is cut exactly at 2" and I have no problems with my Delkevic or Scorpion I used to have.

If you cut too much off, the mid pipe isn't going to go over the weld, it will stop there. You only need to be sure the original pipe goes into the midpipe further than the slits.

I just put mine on, 2" worked well. And the exhaust looks and sounds great. Ill post pictures of the install later.
