^^^ Funny you guys should say that the Delkevic stubby isn't stubby enough.

For my taste, the Viper you're referring to -- which Viper calls a "Micro" -- is a bit too stubby (a bit less than 8" or 200mm). Viper also makes what they call a "Stubby," which is about 15.3" inches (390mm) long. The Delkevic stubby is closer to the latter, at 13.8" (350mm).

For comparison, the stock silencer is 20.5" (520.7mm), the Delkevic full-size is 17.7" (450mm), and the Viper full-size is 18.1" (460mm).

(Ladies? and) Gentlemen,

The clip on youtube is mine.
People need to take into account that it was filmed with a Nokia N73 Phone. So the sound is going to be off by a long way.

It is LOUD !. I am using it without the baffle (it isn't legal here with the baffle either so why bother.)
Comparing it to the default. It's in a different universe. I'd love to convince you all by making a better clip, but I don't have any better equipment :p

Build quality is fine, no weird edges, smooth finish.

I like the flame sort of finish, but that's personal to everyone.
larger pics for the fans :p

If this isn't Titanium, it has to be paper. Because it really is a lot lighter than the standard can.

Welcome, frant!c. With your sense of humor, you'll fit right in, here.

Thanks for the info. Do you think yours is too loud? Also, have you heard either the standard or the shorty stainless cans? If so, how do they compare to yours?

I don't think it's too loud, my dad did though. He wanted me to fit the baffle, so I did. He still didn't look happy afterwards :) (note that he rides a fully Stock BMW K100 '87... those barely whistle.)
Took the baffle out again later, it's never seen the exhaust from up close again. (i keep it in the cubbyhole with the toolkit and my discbrake lock, when I ride in Germany it's a good idea to fit it. Some policemen test exhausts by checking how deep a ruler will go in, if it's too far, you're in trouble :) )
I haven't heard any of the other cans. Don't know of anyone local owning one.

The Ebayer that sold me this one told me:
Hi Frant!c, we can send to you for ÂŁ17. The silencer is slightly louder and a deeper tone than the original ones. This sale is for the standard 450mm length, we are out of stock of the shorter ones at the moment. The shorter are very slightly louder but not much.
Best regards mike

I really think 'slightly louder' is an understatement, but since I asked if I'd get in trouble with it, I can understand the answer from a sellers perspective ;)

Hmm...so the regular Delkevic is 450mm (17.7 in). I guess the picture I posted from the Ebay site over here is misleading. I also found out that the Viper standard length is 460mm (18.1 in), and the stock can is closer to 520.7mm (20.5 in), so I'll try to go back and edit my earlier posts.

I'm with you Craig. Pics were a bit misleading...Thanks, Frant!c for your pics!!!

That can is much longer than I expected... looks almost as long as the stocker, and I'm not particularly fond of the excessive length.

thanx frantic! i see they fit the gen2 without issue as well. not that i expected different but they noted just the first gen years in the ads.

(I think) the regular size Delkevic (both ss and Ti) is about 3" shorter than stock; stubby ss is about 7" shorter than stock. Are you saying you like the stubby, better? I'm on the fence.

Definitely like the stubby better. One of the biggest things I dislike about the stock can is the sheer size of it! It looks like a bloody torpedo on the side of the bike. :p The shorter cans (IMO) compliment the lines of the SV much better.

The Ebay seller i got mine from had all the types for Gen 1 and Gen 2 SV's seperately.
This one is a bit shorter than the stock one, but the biggest change is the volume. The torpedo :)P) is round and fat, this one is a lot slimmer and Oval.

The only thing which made me hesitate is the fact that it's not approved for road use in the Netherlands, only the UK allows it officially (with the baffle inserted).
Now Dutch policemen don't check these things often, loads of harley people ride with their straight through pipes even, so why shouldn't I :)

In germany it's different story all together, especially in the bike-tourists-intensive spots :p But i explained that in a previous post.

The only time I have seen sound testing by policemen in the Netherlands is before and after MotoGP and Superbike races, so a lot of people fit their stock exaust for these occasions. This being a slip-on rather than a bolt-on doesn't help in that department though ;)

Come to think of it, ĂŤ've allways misunderstood the term "Slip-on" before I had my package in the mail. Didn't think there would be this much cutting involved in slipping on a new exhaust. (didn't have powertools at my disposal...)

Those slip-ons don't look too bad at all and the price is definitely right. I like the stubby version better myself. Like others here, I'm not too fond of the size of the factory pipe. If they were more like some of the smaller pipes on late model supersports I wouldn't have even changed mine.........

I like those. I'm thinking about buying one soon:D

Well, I wound up getting in on the REMUS deal, so it looks like I won't be ordering one of these Delkevic exhausts.

However, I wanted to update this thread with the info I had gathered, in case it will help anyone else.

Anyway, for anyone else who is interested, there are two sellers on eBay for these exhausts:
delkevic_us (the US distributor); and steelesnewparts.
They share a warehouse in Colorado but claim to be seperate companies.
Both seem very easy to deal with and willing to answer questions,
with Luke Padilla at Delkevic US being the more accommodating of the two.

Here are their current eBay store listings:

Here are the answers that I received to my questions, from Delkevic US:

1. Does this mount in the same location as the stock can? I
ride with soft saddlebags sometimes, and do not want anything
that sits higher (or aims the exhaust gasses higher) than
stock.

IT DOES MOUNT IN THE SAME LOCATION. UNFORTUNATELY I
HAVEN'T SEEN ANYONE RIDE WITH SOFTBAGS ON THIS BIKE SO I CAN
SAY FOR SURE ON THAT ONE.

2. Does it come with all mounting hardware and instructions?

IT DOES COME WITH THE MOUNTING HARDWARE, NO INSTRUCTIONS
(REALLY EASY TO DO)

3. Is it returnable if I open the box and I just don't like
it?

IT IS RETURNABLE WITHIN 7 DAYS OF RECIEVING NO QUESTIONS
ASKED

4. Is it made in the UK by Delkevic, or is it made somewhere
else, by someone else? If made elsewhere, where? If by
someone else, by whom?

IT IS MANUFATURED BY DELKEVIC, OUR
FACTORY IS IN CHINA. DISTIBUTION STARTED IN THE UK AND IS NOW
IN AUSTRALIA AND HERE.

5. Are you an authorized US dealer of this product?

WE ARE THE ONLY AUTHORIZED DEALER WITH THE EXCEPTION OF
STEELE'S CYCLE WE SHARE A WAREHOUSE IN ENGLEWOOD, CO.

6. Your eBay listing references a 12-month
manufacturer's warranty.
If I have a warranty claim, do I deal with you, or
with Delkevic in the UK?

IF YOU DO HAVE A CLAIM YOU CAN DEFINATELY CALL US AND WE CAN
HANDLE RIGHT HERE IN THE US OF A.

7. The Delkevic UK website says their stainless exhausts
come with a lifetime warranty against corrosion. Does the
pipe you're selling on eBay come with this warranty, or is
this something that is UK-only?

THAT IS UK ONLY. HOWEVER, IF
YOU CALLED US AND YOUR PIPE WAS CORRODING I'M MORE THAN SURE
WE COULD WORK SOMETHING OUT. WEITHER THAT WOULD BE SENDING A
REPLACEMENT OR A LARGE DISCOUNT ON A NEW ONE I'M NOT SURE YET
WE'VE NEVER HAD ONE CORRODE.

8. How short is the shorty? Your listing says
the "silencer" is 350 mm long (13.78 inches). Is that with
or without the exhaust tip? If without, how much length does
the tip add?

THAT IS WITHOUT THE MIDPIPE. I AM NOT SURE OF
THE EXACT LENGHT
BUT IF YOU YOUTUBE DELKEVIC THERE SHOULD BE
A VIDEO OF A STUBBY ON SOMEONES R6 THAT MIGHT HELP GIVE YOU
AN IDEA. I BELIEVE THAT "SOMEONE" IS STEELE'S CYCLE

9. Do you have any pictures of the shorty ss on a first gen
SV that you can share with me?

I DO NOT AT THIS TIME, SORRY. IF YOU PURCHASE ONE WE WOULD
LOVE AND PHOTO OR EVEN A YOUTUBE VIDEO OF IT.

10. I appreciate the youtube video you posted, but it's of
the full-size Ti can. Also, is that with or without the
baffle? Do you have a video or audio clip of the shorty ss
can that you can share with me (with and/or without the
baffle)?

WE DID NOT TAKE THAT VIDEO IT WAS A CUSTOMERS SO I'M
NOT 100% SURE IF THE BAFFLE IS OUT. THE R6 STUBBY VIDEO I
REFERED TO EARLIER HAS NO BAFFLE.

11. Speaking of the baffle, how hard is it to
install/remove? Is the shorty ss pipe with the baffle
installed EPA-approved or otherwise street-legal in
the US?

BAFFLE IN YES, BAFFLE OUT I'M NOT SO SURE. REALLY EASY TO
TAKE OUT OR PUT BACK IN.

12. Can you supply me with any references, particularly from
SV650 owners who have bought the shorty ss pipe from you?

I DON'T HAVE ANY FROM THE US YET BUT WE ARE ONLY A COUPLE
WEEKS NEW HERE.

I will say that if I had not stumbled across the REMUS deal, I would have
ordered one of the Delkevic Stainless steel exhausts.
Only reason I waited was Delkevic US sold out their inventory at the
beginning of the month.
Yes, it's made in China, but the quality and support seem to be good,
especially considering the price. Without having actually seen them,
but based on my research, I'd say the Delkevic are similar to
(but less expensive than) the Viper cans, which, IIRC, are also made in China.

^^^^ You're welcome. If you get one, let us know what you think of it.

EDIT: Almost forgot. I've since found out that that youtube video of the Delkevic on the R6 is with the baffle removed.

HTH

Hi Cfreger -
I bought the same can and just found this thread about it.
I bought it from Steele's Cycles in Englewood Colorado on ebay.

Anyways here goes: 1) I don't like the look of it up close. Some of the rivets look like they've been drilled out, there's harsh rotational scratches around some. Was it repacked? Is it actually used?? I have also seen some of the internal packing material coming out from around some of the rivets.

2) It's missing one clamp. This needs two clamps for the link pipe. I didn't bother the ebay vendor I went straight to the manufacturer and asked about it. Delkevic UK says that it does require two clamps. "You should have been supplied 2 clamps, 1 x 55-59mm (link pipe to headers) & 1 x 51-55mm (Silencer to link pipe)". The ebay vendor will not supply the second, they say return it only. UK says they would help me. My choice.

3) It didn't come with instructions. They're self explanatory, just cut 50mm from the straight pipe's lower weld. UK sent me the instructions.

4) Last but not least, this can is generic and not engineered for the SV. Come to find out many manufacturers do this. The link pipe is what's designated for our model. Apparently some production techniques are being improved and will roll out in about 5 months.

I think this sucks and am going to return it. I see a new scorpion silencer on ebay for $220. Anyone think I'll have better luck with scorpion?
