Now that I'm in bike hunting mode, I was 99.9% sure I was going for a 2nd gen. Actually an '05 or newer. But then I came across a 750 monster. I rode a friend of mine's 620 dark, and at my 6'-3" height it was too small. I did like the brembos though. Anyways what would the pros and cons to each be. I ride 60% of the time 2 up. For either bike I would need to get clip ons, cause I'm not a fan of the riser bars. And for the SVN I would want rearsets. What do you guys think?

If it matters to you, I ran against a 750 Monster on a couple of straight line runs w/ my 1st Gen 6-fibby. To my surprise, The Mule stomped him rather bad. He was hella-upset.

All the first gen Monsters (900/750/620) share the same chassis. Frame/bars/tank/seat/peg relation are all the same. So if the 620 was too small for you the 750 will be too.

Plus, the 750 the same power as the 620.

Don't let the cc's fool you. The Monster is an air-cooled, 2 valve, twin. The 620/750 make less power than an SV.

I've owned 3 Monsters over the years....a 620, S4R and S2R 1000....and if you're tall and ride 2 up the smallest I would look for would be an S2R 800. An M1000 or S2R 1000 would be better choices. The 1000 DS motor is real nice.

an 848 is my dream bike but I defininetly don't have that kind of money right now. So it's the naked SV that wins. I didn't know the 620 and the 750 were on the same chassis. Guess it makes sense though. I was just REALLY too big for the monster. It was way to close to the ground. Another thing is, when I was over at sweist152's place he was talking to me about how he's ridden tons of bikes and still liked the SV the best. The one thing I do like about the SV is that I never look at it as being a Suzuki. Frankly I hate Suzuki. I hate their dirtbikes, and I really hate the GSX-R, even though it is a great bike. I just hate how everyone and their grandmother has one. I see the SV kind of by its self. If I ever paint my new bike I'd personally take the Suzuki badge off and put the SV650 decal in it's place. Maybe somebody did this already, I don't know. but thanks for helping me stick to the SV.
