i have an 02 sv 650. my problem is that for some reason some where shortly after 90mph my bike acts like its cutting out as if it had a governor on it and resumes power when it slows a bit. do they have governors cuz few guys i have talked to said they dont.????????? it doesnt cut out during revs or while getting up to speed. i dont get over 90 much any way but want to know if this is major or not. this is also my first bike. thanks for any help and glad to see a forum like this for these bikes

Possible fuel starvation. 80-90 might be the limit the fuel system can handle for long periods of time. Getting up to speed the revs aren't high for long periods of time but cruising at higher rpms will drain the float bowls if there is any restrictrion.

Check the filter in the petcock. Also might want to check the float bowl levels.

check the sound deadening foam on the underside of the tank, if it pulls away at all, that's your problem, vacuum from the airbox is pulling it away and restricting the airflow, when you slow down the vacuum is reduced and stops restricting the airflow

thanks guys i will check those out. nice to know its prob not some thing bigger. hope i didnt count my chicks before they hatched lol. the filter in the pet ****, is that the long skinny looking part toward the base of the the tank. took bike apart 3 months ago for paint. i know there is no paint in the tank though but the carb idea could or may be it cuz it surges a bit in 2 or 3 going down residential streets and thought it felt like a slight flow issue. keep you guys posted
