Those "weak points" are architectural designer decisions. Covering up the wamp-rat sized exhaust port would make the structure less pleasing to the eye.

im not saying they should have covered it up but maybe thought about possible dangers and protected it a little better. maybe some visually pleasing protection like some turrets in the trench

It'll be a tough job with long hours and frequent travel. I guess learning the Dark Side of the Force is a perk though. I'll need to see your last three OPRs before I can make my final decision.
