I know everyone here is going to say to get an sv650, I know they are the mightier bike, I have owned 3. However I have the ability to pick up a mint condition gs500 naked for VERY low price.

Comparing the 2 bikes physically from suzuki's own specs, they are very similar. Seat height is a little lower on the gs500 by .3 inches, and I could gain that with an sv650 shock on the back of the gs500.

Basically, compared the naked sv, will the naked gs be really cramped, or do they compare size wise?

Power I know I will be down on, and thats ok, as my gf rides a cbr125, but for just pissin around, I think for the price, i would like the gs. I owned one a long time ago, but so long ago I cannot compare sizes in my head.

Thanks for the help

Do it, I never felt cramped on my gs500 and I am 6'1".
That`s is one of those bikes I like suzuki for, as simple as it gets.

I'll have to disagree there....my son has a 2001 GS500N and I have a 2008 SV650N and my bike is defiantly bigger. We've swapped off a couple of times and I always want my bike back and he doesn't want to give it back! :p Right now we are in the market to get him a SV650 and get rid of the GS500.

Maybe I am build different but back to the OP,
IMHO you have to talk to somebody who has the same build not just same height and weight.

Ya, I couldn't find any shots that were straight on....my son is 5'-11" and he fits the bike OK but it is a tad bit small for him....at 6'-1" I would say your going to look like a monkey humping a football! :D

True! ;D Don't get me wrong...the GS500 has been a wonderful first bike for him....he's put over 4000 miles on since he got it in September of last year....and learned a bunch about riding it in that time frame....but....he needs a "physically" bigger bike if he wants to go on some of the longer trips we have planned for this year....the 500 makes a real good "around town" bike but a 300-400 mile a day ride it is not.
