If an error code is registered, will that always give an FI light? In other words, is it possible to have an error code and not have the FI light show it?

Good question! Just spent a few quality minutes with the Manual and didn't see anything about 'soft' codes or the like. Looks like the FI will be showing in the LCD panel and/or the FI LED will be lit if there is a trouble code to be read.

Thanks for the reply. I couldn't find anything on the subject, so I figured that a light had to show for an error to be present.

I am not sure on the sv's, but on other suzuki...yes and no.

If you are riding and the FI light comes on, but when you turn off the bike to get ready to check the code it will not be there when you turn the key back on. I have seen this. While running the code is given, but when turned off and turned back on the code is not present.

The way to avoid this is to keep the key turned on and then check the codes. Only certain sensor will do this, but I don't remember. Off the top of my head I think it is the cam and crank sensor, but don't quote me on that.

On the SV650, yes.

As SVHD said, error code persistence can depend on sensor type and failure type, but on the SV, if the ECM senses a failure, the FI light will turn on.
